10 cars and 2 scooters across five countries, from a hand-me-down Rover to a Mini that should not be this fast. Some were loved, some were endured. A few got a remap.
Rover 400 1.4
My first car, handed down by my dad in 1998. 1.4 litres of British reliability, which is to say an adventure.
Ford Taurus
Bought for 1,000 dollars. A whole American sedan for the price of a good phone. It went, it stopped, I asked no more.
Piaggio X9
Back in France on two wheels. A maxi-scooter that thought it was a sofa.
Audi A6 V6 180 hp
The old A6 with a 180 hp V6. Smooth, heavy, and a proper grown-up car.
Suzuki Burgman 125
After the X9, a Burgman. Sensible, frugal, filtering through traffic.
Suzuki Grand Vitara, 3 doors
The short one. Boxy, honest and ready for dirt roads.
Peugeot 207
Years with nothing, then this. Terrible. We do not speak of it.
Hyundai Tucson
The reasonable one. Did everything, remembered for nothing.
VW cross up! TSI stage 3, 150 hp
A tiny city car, tuned to stage 3 at 150 hp. Pure fun, a go-kart with a number plate. Here it is in the pits at a track day at Interlagos, parked next to a real race car and not the least bit intimidated.
VW Golf Variant 2017 stage 1
A stage 1 estate. Beautiful. Fast, practical and quietly mean.
Chery Tiggo 8 Pro Max
The family car. Big, comfortable, boring. It does its job.
Mini Cooper S 2016 stage 1, 300 hp, 500 Nm
The minibal. My own toy. Stage 1, 300 hp and 500 Nm in a car the size of a shoebox.
