One day in 2019 I decided to make a bag. A cylinder gym bag, the round kind you sling over a shoulder on the way to training.

I wanted to call it BR-101, after the road that runs along the Brazilian coast. Someone already had the name, so it became gloBR-101. Not my finest naming work, but it kept the idea I cared about, a globe trotter with Brazil in the middle.

I designed it and had it made in the centre of São Paulo, at a cost price that still makes me wince. The first run was 60 bags. The first 30 sold fast. The other 30 are still in my stock.

There was never a website or a shop, just an Instagram page. As a business it was a complete failure. As a project I had a great time.

The first samples still said BR-101, before I found out the name was taken.
